Applications and Open Days

Prospective students should apply to us through UCAS. You can obtain a copy of the UCAS directory and application form from your school or college. Alternatively, this form can be obtained directly from UCAS. Because of the sheer numbers of applications we receive, we do not invite the majority of our applicants for an interview. However, we do tend to interview candidates who have qualifications or circumstances that are different from the norm (e.g. mature students who are returning to education after a long break). When they are held, interviews are not formal or threatening. They offer an opportunity for applicants to meet us on a one-to-one basis and to get a sense of challenges and opportunities provided by our degree programme.

If you live overseas and we offer you an interview, we can arrange to interview you by telephone. However, we encourage all applicants to visit Lancaster before coming to study here.

Open Days

Once you have selected Psychology at Lancaster as one of your UCAS choices and been made an offer, you will be invited to come to one of our open afternoons, held between January and March. At an open afternoon, as well as hearing more about the department and being given a guided tour around the University, you will get a chance to talk to members of staff and current students.

Visit Days

The University also holds Visit Days in August and September, for students who wish to see the department prior to making their UCAS choices. If you are unable to fit these dates into your schedule, then you may want to attend one of the campus tours, which tend to take place on the first and third Wednesday of every month. If you wish to come to one of these pre-UCAS afternoons or campus tours, then contact The Schools and Colleges Liaision Office
